University Finals Incoming - Study tips?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

What's your fav/effective study method?

Uni finals are incoming - ~2weeks away for me. My standard study method is to jump on caffeine pills and spend countless hours smashing a subject at the library since I dont study freq. during the sem. Pretty last minute but gets the pass.

I'd go through textbooks, lecture slides, past papers and tutorials.

Im studying accounting and finance

Lets share study tips!

the way you worded it added to the statement, it really shows how much of a fucking idiot you are :).

What subject are you studying?

If the cramming is what works for you then by all means. A very intellectual professor I had while taking criminal law had suggested only reading 1 hour at a time. Essentially reading for 45 minutes then taking a 15 minute break. During the time of studying you should turn your phone off, turn your computer off, and turn the television off. Unless you are one of those people that study better with some background noise- this is me, I use a white noise app on my phone due to ringing in my ears. If you have such a condition I would suggest a white noise app. or something to the same effect as it can be annoying for some. Research has shown that reviewing new material within 24 hours of hearing it increases your retention of that material by about 60%. This means that you will be 60% ahead of the game the next time you walk into class. If you want to significantly reduce the time necessary to prepare for exams, this is the way to do it. I find that learning vocabulary in the subject you are studying will help you greatly. Language is the most fundamental tool of any subject. I have found myself quite a few times forgetting an answer to a question due to not knowing what the word meant in the context of the question. This can prove to be vital in passing exams.

Taking your notes and making an outline can also help.  Highlight major topics and subtopics, with the goal of generating an outline of your notes. With a second color, highlight all vocabulary terms. Charts, diagrams, graphs, lists, hell even draw it.

I hope some of this helps you. If not try flash cards. Great for memorizing.

lmao, I'm not a slave of society. Keep smiling.

- Take good notes, study notes after class, make questions out of notes and quiz yourself. Read book if you don't understand anything in lecture.

procrastinate as long as possible. Learn for 15 hours straight, sleep 2-4 hours. Make exam and pass (Y). Works every time.
