If you could ask God any question, what would it be?

I don't understand humans. We are the smartest species, yet 88% of the population believes in something that is not real. There is no proof that there is a god. If anyone finds solid evidence then I will believe it.

I just can't believe how humans can be so smart, yet at the same time be so ridiculously stupid.

My question for you guys is, why do you believe in something imaginary?

The ancient people made something to make peace on the world, yet is obviously fake.

To make peace in the world..? That's the stupidest shit I've ever heard. Have you ever heard of the crusades? Many people have been killed over religion. People are still murdered everyday because of this.

I used to be just like you, I didn't believe in God or Jesus. But when something extremely terrible happens to you you'll find yourself wondering why, and a higher purpose is the only reason you're willing to accept. I hope that it never comes to that and your divine judgement isn't a harsh one.

On May 18 2012 my son died thanks to a disease called Gastroschisis. And if it makes me "ridiculously stupid" to believe that my son is with God and I'll see him again when I die, then so be it.

What harm does it do you to believe? None. But if God IS real... It will do you much more harm not to.

My teacher told me that when his dad died, his moms way of coping with it was that he was in a better place; that he was with God.

My teacher on the other hand could not find closure with the idea that his dad was in the sky. He found comfort in the memories he created with his dad. Hence the reason why he considers himself atheist.

I'm all for everyone having their own beliefs but it's ignorant to say that "if god is real it would do so much more harm". Being religious out of fear defeats the purpose of religion.

The harm in belief is ignorance and too much of anything, including faith is unhealthy.

I clearly stated what my purpose for believing is. It's not because I'm scared. You misunderstood what I was trying to say. If there was no fear of "Hell" there would be no religion at all. It's more of a respectful fear as people often use the term "God fearing man". It doesn't mean that you shit your pants at the thought of God, it means that we're afraid of displeasing God who has both the power and the authority to punish those who go against his will. As I'm sure nobody here knows the true meaning of being "sloth" (the 4th deadly sin) you should check it out.

Besides you believe that ignorance is found in religion only? Ignorance is extremely common among other aspects of life. Racism, political ignorance etc..

I was just simply stating that if you're not given a reason to believe, you most likely will not. I believe that this "ignorance" helps me to believe things happen for a reason, because I NEEDED a reason for what happened to my son. It's not one of those "well shit happens" moments.

If I were to accept that there is no after-life and  that I'll never be able to see my child again.. Instead of becoming religious I most likely would have become homicidal/suicidal instead.

Let's say you're right and this is all shit that myself and others have made up in their heads. This made up belief has helped me to change and become a better person. Not just to my family but everyone else that I come into contact with.

For God so loveth the world, that he hath given his only son, that none that believe in him, should perish: but should have everlasting life.

John 3:16

Is this not living your life in fear of disrespecting God or not living by his image or w/e?

Anyways ignorance is tied up with laziness. Even if there is scientific proof for issues, religion makes people accept things as the way they are without trying to discover any answers for themselves.

Let's say that you're a good kid and you love your parents. (Hope you do).

Would you not be afraid to upset them in anyway? Does that mean you live your life in fear? No it doesn't. Don't twist my words.

It seems that the only part of my post that you read is the part you copy and pasted. Why not try re reading what I said before that.
