Kindle Fire HD Question

Featured Replies

So, I recently stole my sister's kindle fire, and she hasn't paid to get rid of the annoying ads that show up on the home screen, etc.

I'm considering rooting it, and I was wondering if there was a way to get rid of the ads once it's rooted?

If anyone has experience with this, please let me know what you did.

Thank you,

Mikasa

Eh, rooting it can be useful for some stuff, but you will have NO access to any of its core feature without installing a bootleg version of them.

Kindle fire HD's use a serial registration system that will literally block you from using it unless the serial is registered to the proper device.

I obtained one using a... less conventional method... and the serial was banned, thus rendering the device useless. After rooting it I was able to gain access to adding music to it and using it for that purpose.

tldr; Pay to remove ads and save ALOT of head ache, or just deal with them :p

Alright, thank you.

My sister doesn't know I stole it, so I shall find a way to get the ads paid for. :p

I'm thinking about buying an ipad mini or something once I get a job, but this is just a temporary thing so I can read manga, etc. :p

Oh man Kindle's are nice devices but the OS on them blows.

You should totally root it and then install a custom ROM.

This will basically turn it into a full fledged full featured android tablet!

I'll look into this a bit for you and talk to you on Skype about it all.

Edit:

If you're going to buy a tablet of your own go Andorid, also iPad mini is WAY overpriced compared to other tablets in it's same feature range.

Edit:

What size (in inches) is the device?

It's a Kindle Fire HD correct?

naw nexus tablets are pretty cheap and their decent but the ipad mini is tad bit more costly but i heard its worth it

It's pretty much a fact that compared to all other tablets in the same spec range that iPad mini is overpriced by about $130:

Plus I feel Android is a WAY better operating system by leaps and bounds.

You can root you KindleFire and remove the adds without compromising the core features (Like they are any good) . Or you can do like me an install a fresh version of Android, and have yourself a cheap-but-effective makeshift Google Nexus.
