You can choose to equip the hilt in the armour select interface in barrows setup, I will give you a trial if you want to try

Got that working but for some reason prayers wouldn't work no matter what I tried

Need to select [Allow sip prayer restore] to unlock prayer then it will work ^^  Hope this helps!
