How do I know if a local script is safe?

Featured Replies

I'm not sure how to personally find if something is safe, but that script has been confirmed & it's a quality script as well.

Ask for a virus scan, if they don't comply then don't download.

That's the motto of all people who go in the Local Script section.

You'd have to read the code. Even a virus scan can't tell for sure if the code is malicious. Even if a code doesn't steal your PW, I was once part of a botting forum where a script was released that dropped all the valuable stuff in your bank.

Generally, most scripts are completely safe in the local script sections. Look for members that have multiple scripts out, have been a part of the community for a long time, and scripts that already have a lot of users. Obviously those don't guarantee anything, but if you can't read java, they're a great place to start.

Basically if the script does not come in JAR or CLASS formats you should be suspicious.

Other than that, you can't really detect is safe or not if you don't know a single thing about java.

Please comment here.. I'd like to know things to look for, besides scanning it.

I want to use this 1: http://osbot.org/forum/topic/3975-kokeis-aio-chopper-supporting-almost-any-location/?hl=powerchop

Would like to know if it's safe.

Thanks for the help:)

By looking at/reading the source or asking someone else who understands java to do so.

Anyone an scan the files themselves after downloading, no need to ask others for what you can easily do youreslf.

Also virus scans don't really check for malicious java code on jar/class files, someone needs to look at the source and read it.

I never said it did. I just said to ask for it.

I can confirm that script is 100% safe.

I use it a lot.

That specific script is safe, although I'm not sure if it's working right now. You'd have to de-compile the jar from what I can remember... I recommend asking a scripter if they can check it out for you, as I'm not sure how easy it is to de-compile.

I used it two days ago, so unless something has changed, it should be fine to use. ^_^ Although it WILL NOT bank, unless the client's finally been updated....

I'll only download a script that a ton of people have downloaded, and I will only download it if it is a good script that has alot of quality reviews. I also only take them from people who have had a decent amount of forum time / respect.

If you really want to, like someone said, anyone can get the source just ask someone who understands java to go over it for you.
