Can you get scammed with btc?

Featured Replies

The title says it all really, I'm wondering if someone sends you BTC can they scam you in anyway? once you see it in your BTC wallet.

If they are double spending, yes you can get scammed.

Otherwise no, bitcoin wallets have certain wallet codes which are sent to you annon.

Double spending is as the name suggests: Imagine you have 1 BTC in your wallet. You send 1 BTC to two accounts simultaneously (or consecutively in a short period of time). The blockchain (the ledger that records transactions) will only consider one of those transactions accurate and the other is nullified. As far as I know, double spending isn't an easy thing to do with BTC (but then again I don't know anything really so a second opinion would be useful :) ).
