How good is Linux for botting?

Recommended Posts

I've seen tutorials for setting up Linux for botting before and as far as I follow the logic is that it uses your processor power more efficiently/less of it which leaves more space for botting clients. But how much better is it? If I can run about 5-6 bots now how many more would Linux enable me to run? Just wondering if it's even worth bothering setting up Linux as an alternate OS specifically for this or if I should just wait and upgrade CPU down the line.

I've got 8 gigs of ram and an AMD FX-8350 for reference.

Its easily accessible and free for dedicated server hosting which is why its popular. It also isnt as resource intensive.
