Kati disabled it because when you logged in it OP'd you. She is still working on getting it to work properly. There will be one started whenever it's fixed. 

I'm currently deciding on which one to use. Mibbit didn't work so well.

What kind of trouble were you having? An IRC channel would be convenient enough for me smile.png There are quite a lot of networks to use, such as irc.esper.net (web-client: http://esper.net/publicirc.php)
