Can't get IntelliJ IDEA to work

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've tried to get IntelliJ IDEA to work with OSBot scripting for a good 30 minutes, however, it gives me a lot of errors which I do not understand why. I've followed the tutorial posted closely in the tutorials section without luck. I'm using the skeleton also posted there. I have posted some of the errors below.

Error:(7, 89) java: illegal character: '\u00a0'

Error:(17, 4) java: ';' expected

Error:(21, 14) java: not a statement

Error:(23, 5) java: illegal start of expression

Error:(45, 2) java: reached end of file while parsing

I have no idea why this is happening. I'm using Eclipse for now but would like to go back since I'm more familiar with IntelliJ.

Thanks!

I've taken two pictures which will show some of it.

This has nothing to do with the fact you're using IntelliJ. Your code is just poorly written and won't work in Eclipse either.

Not very nice of you to say @Alek's code is poorly written. The skeleton was taken from here:

What you supplied him indicated your code was poorly written as the errors given are usually thrown because you've missed key parts to your code, being ; () and {}. Have you linked your osbot client to IntelliJ?

I said in the original post that "I'm using the skeleton also posted there". I see that it was unclear and I'm aware, my bad. I have indeed linked the client to the project. Very weird that it's working in Eclipse though.

You've done it via Project Structure? Seems weird.

Yes I have, here's some screenshots of all my setting currently, I can't seem to find anything wrong...

Didn't work either. Guess I'll have to stick with Eclipse :feels:

IntelliJ master race tho :feels: Eclipse is just good for making .jar's

That's all I could see different to mine and I've literally just installed it. :/

Yeah, I've just used IntelliJ for a long time so that's why I'd prefer it, but I guess I could do all my Java work in IntelliJ and then work on scripts for OSBot in Eclipse.

Not quite sure why it's not working for you though when it's perfectly mine for me :( Could try a fresh install of both your JDK and IntelliJ?

I'll do that, be back with an update in a bit.

Edit: Still doesn't work, Eclipse it is I guess.

Looks like an issue with character encoding maybe. Try setting the encoding to UTF-8 in IntelliJ
