Before OP asks why, it;s because mirror mode latches onto the official client. And there's no way to use proxies on that official client. To use proxies, you need to modify it, and if you do... You get the idea, it's basically reflection.

 

 

What you could do is run a VM, and have a VPN running on it. Then you can run two mirror modes on the same PC. 

 

^ But you need a beasty PC
