Physics Help

The question is:

A ball takes 5s to hit the ground, when dropped from the top of the building. What is the height of the building?

And the answer is:

My question is how we got g and is gravitation force denoted as g or what is g?

I have exam on this sunday :(

Thanks.

g is the gravitational force. Since it was 'dropped' from a building the acceleration of the ball is gravity.

This is first year for me in physics,

So i am completely new

but i mean how they got g = 9.8m/s2?

Thank you for trying to help.

g = 9.8m/s is a constant.

There is no calculation (probably is but its irrelevant) as to how that is g.

because the gravity on earth pulls with 9.8m per second..

on the moon its 1.6m per second..

on earth its always 9.8
