Would it somehow be faster for me to just not go back at all and sit there with a cannon, safespotting each one? range potions instead of prayer potions?

It you moved the cannon slightly you can make it 2x hit ahrim per rotation, you can also leave the cannon in Ahrims room so you don't have to run around with it then reset it up every 30 mins before it decays.
