People that do support obesity as a disease because of the definition of the word "disease":
A particular quality, habit, or disposition regarded as adversely affecting a person or group of people.By this logic people with blue eyes have a disease. It's a fact that, in sunlight, light-eyed people have more of a glare factor and they are believed to be worse drivers at night. I would say that adversely affects this group...?
Only... people with blue eyes were (more than likely) born that way. So, in my opinion, that warrants more of a disease than getting yourself good and fat. But is THIS really what "they" were thinking of when they made the word "disease"?
In my opinion, this is right there with alcoholism; I believe being obese could be due to an addiction problem. But "normal" or "average" people don't want to see obese people getting special treatment because of their self-induced fatness.
it's also easy for people to get upset over obesity is when money is being taken out of their paychecks for insurance. Keep in mind your employer grabs money from you for EVERYONE's insurance, not just yours. If your company doesn't already have a wellness program in place, talk to them about it. Log healthy choices to earn points and have a point quota. Anyone who doesn't meet the quota pays extra. Blood work, routine physicals, etc.
It sort of worries me what kind of message this will send to children across the United States... ahhh those poor kids. How many will die in their 40's thanks to those awful parents?

the physical or emotional or sexual mistreatment of children.
