Somewhat vital boot bug

Most recent version this has occurred on is 2.4.50 but has been on earlier versions.

people running the client for the first time, in my experience i've only seen this on windows 8.1 with java 8, only get a flickering cmd window and it closes instantly.

when using cmd to force the program to keep running you get the error:
