Alright. I got a VPN and it's the type of VPN that you connect to via Start > Network > VPN > Type in the VPN credentials. Not a client or anything.

 

 

But I'm wondering if my main internet disconnects, will the VPN disconnect at the same time, thus showing my real IP for a split second?

What if the VPN starts having connection problems and disconnects automatically? Will my real IP be exposed for the time being without me verifying the connection change?

It should ask you if you want to reconnect using your own internet or not.
