[2.3.77] NullPointerException caused by Chatbox.getMessages method.

Featured Replies

OSBot version number:

2.3.77

Description of the bug/error:

The Chatbox.getMessages method causes a NullPointerException when called for any kind of chat message (e.g. Chatbox.MessageType.ALL).

SSCCE that causes the bug/error:

import org.osbot.rs07.api.Chatbox;
import org.osbot.rs07.script.Script;
import org.osbot.rs07.script.ScriptManifest;

@ScriptManifest(author="Normangorman", info="test", name="Chat test script", version=1, logo="")
public class Main extends Script {
    public int onLoop() throws InterruptedException {
        log("Searching for messages...");
        java.util.List<String> messages = getChatbox().getMessages(Chatbox.MessageType.ALL);
        for (String msg : messages) {
            log(msg);
        }

        return 2000;
    }
}

Log output from this script:

[INFO][Bot #1][07/03 07:18:00 PM]: Searching for messages...
[ERROR][Bot #1][07/03 07:18:00 PM]: Error in script executor!

	at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

I re-wrote Chatbox in Version 2.3.78 development version; this is accessible on the main forum page (Animate only) on the right hand side under Control Panel.
