If I bought a laptop that originally had Windows 7, then upgraded it to Windows 8 later on, will I be able to downgrade it to Windows 7 by backing up my files and doing a system restore?

 

Basically my brother upgraded it to Windows 8, and I tried to get used to it but couldn't.

Re-Download Windows 7 and enter your product key. And you should be good!
