Playing RS is all wasted energy at some point. It's not like 20 years from now your going to say, thank god I still have my fire cape.

I worked for about 3 months on an intake for a formula car and we couldn't use it because of an overlooked rule.

What did I learn?

Tons of fluid dynamics + CFD/simulations and intake design in general.

Would I take another stab at it? Of course!

I could say that 95% of all my programming projects were "wasted work" as they never went anywhere, but just about anything you do gives you plenty of experience :).
