Computer Question - Serious

Hello everyone,

I've been having some issues that I was wondering if some of you could assist me with.

Internet Issues

So, ever since I've fixed my computer I've been having a pretty irritating issue. My internet will go out every 45-55 minutes for no reason, even when my house internet is still working. My internet wireless card like resets or crashes or something. The only way I'm able to fix the internet is by restarting the computer or going to:

Open Network and Sharing > Change Adapter Settings > Right Clicking: "Wireless Network Connection"

and then disabling and enabling it again. My ethernet cable wont work either, when I plug it in it doesn't do anything. The ethernet cable is functioning correctly on other computers, but not on mine.

What could this be and how can I fix this?

Date&Time Issues

Again, since I've fixed my computer my date & time wont keep up with the actual date & time. If I set it to the correct date & time it eventually falls behind and repeats the same hour until I fix it again. For example, as of this post it's June 20th but my computer is showing April 9th. Obviously an issue.

I've tried fixing it but nothing has worked. Also, whenever I go to change the date & time internet time settings it says I don't have permission to access it.

What could this be and how can I fix this?

Other Information

In case you guys are wondering why my computer needed to be fixed, the internal power supply died. I simply bought a new one and replaced it. I didn't touch/add any other component that could conflict with the internet/date&time.

I look forward to reading your replies.

My only issue is that finding the cmos battery I need would be a pain because it's not just a little "circle" battery. I have an Alienware and it's different than most.

Your date and time is due to your CMOS battery being dead, I see this on a weekly basis. It is a removable battery on your motherboard, it is usually slim and is in a clip on slot directly on the board, replace it, and your date and time issues will be fixed once you have replaced the battery, set the date and time one last time, and restart. If this doesnt fix it... Good luck :/ Hope I helped.

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm on vacation and on my cousin's laptop he has the same issue with his internet, but it only occurs after using the laptop for some time. It's also the only device on the network that this happens to.

My best guess is a problem with the laptop's wifi card.

As for the Date and Time, try setting it in the bios.

Don't reinstall an OS unless you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TOO!!! If you don't know what you are doing, you can get yourself into a worse situation.

Reinstalling an OS is easy but only when you know what you're doing.
