Hey if you're using CS6 you cannot simply press delete and gain transparency - this pops up a fill box, however if you unlock the layer by ALT + double click on the layer in the side bar, you can now press delete and achieve transparency!

    In the layer menu, pressing the little lock next to the layer name also enables you to delete the background layer.

    I'm still new to CS6 and would love a more detailed guide if you could? Maybe include pictures, that'd be great!

    3. Adjust your preference.
