Life after Death & The Paranormal

Featured Replies

A very good topic idea opener, Cheerios to you :).

Personally I don't think there is life after death. After having done several high dose Salvia and Shroom trips I understand the concept of Ego-death, and I somewhat have a vague idea about what it should be to die. It might sound pessimist, but on the other hand it's really not.. but I think after death there's nothing at all; pure blackness/darkness. Compare it to being asleep without having dreams, just solely nothingness.

As for near-death experiences; There's been research about this for as much it's possible ( not that easy researching such a rare happening ) there's theories that DMT ( dimenthyltryptamine ) plays a role in this event. DMT exists in all living creatures and creates a short experience in which the person experiences ego-death ( mistaken by many for the feeling of having died ) and VERY heavy hallucinations. http://www.calebwilde.com/2013/01/can-we-chemically-induce-near-death-experiences/

I recommend getting some more information about DMT. It's very interesting stuff for you who don't know anything about it :)

There is none- and there never will be any hard evidence that life after death exists.

It's purely based on faith. Faith, in my opinion, is a tool for weak-minded people to put their minds at ease about things they don't understand or things they don't want to accept.

And what would be so bad about slowly rotting in the ground? You wouldn't be aware of it since your brain doesn't exist anymore. ''You'' wouldn't be aware of anything.

Biological death might be death of the brain, but if your soul hasn't left, you're not dead. How else do they revive people with dead brains and hearts? Also, if your brain was the only standard for 'dying', then we ought to be able to revive corpses. Except for real corpses, their soul is missing - your soul directs your brain, forms your will.

Believing in something called a ''soul'' is faith, since there's no evidence for it.

They can only revive humans to a certain point if their heart or brains have stopped working, and that point is when the brain has lost too many brain cells in order to be concious.. I don't really know where you got the ''soul'' part from.

Oh well, faith is faith.

How else would you go on a diet and resist food? Your body is hungry, or your body craves certain types of food, and since your brain directs your body, you would automatically eat, because you needed food. Your will - your soul - firmly tells the brain, no food.

Just think about it for a moment. HYPOTHETICALLY. If your brain is the thing that thinks, you are going to have some serious problems with food, sex drive, and hurting other people. You would be an animal, plain and simple. A REAL animal. But say, if you had a soul, you would be able to go on a fast or on a diet, you could resist taking advantage of others, and would be able to keep yourself from killing people that annoy you.

don't ignore everything i say, try to understand what i am explaining.

I'm pretty sure that's called free will, something that most of the animals also have. It's all about how developed the species' brain is.

Some animals that behave purely on reflexes I would not consider intelligent enough to have free will.

I mean, why do you have to bring a ''soul'' into this, there are thousands of definitions for a ''soul''.

What differenciates humans from animals is self-awareness and reason. We as humans can and do observe ourselves, assess what we observe and can change or mantain our behaviors. Animals can change but only in response to outside forces, the evironment they live in.
Reason, in humans, is a very powerful attribute. It can be used very constructively or very destructively. Reason is also the same tool we use to pass judgement, what is right and what is wrong, also used incorrectly much of the time in this function.
Only humans can feel responsibilty or perceive responsibilty. However the idea that actions have consequences is true both of animals and humans.

''Does the soul exist? Is there any evidence to support this? In this article I'll show you one argument that I think supports the existence of a soul.''

Yeah I stopped reading at that sentence. I really can't be bothered to read some fiction story which isn't based on any factual evidence.

And that article is only one persons opinion..

you don't like to read or study do you? i'm guessing you have a free will of lazyness. it's the soul that keeps you awake XD

You said they were fantasy stories? The people existed, you can't prove that they didn't happen as much as they can prove they did. If anything there's more evidence they did the evidence that these people exist and it's known that Pontius Pilate sentenced crucifixions and did so with Jesus.

I believe in life after death, without it life would be pointless. And as for ghosts I don't believe in ghosts, I believe in spirits and (demons --> I believe in the devil)

these qoutes are getting bigger and bigger :P. but it these times it is hard to prove someone what you believe is true. most of them don't even know what is really going on in the world, they are blind. it's sad to see people who don't want to listen, they don't realise people like me only want to help them. they just think i'm a fool, because the devil tries to take every soul he can get. and btw, if you don't believe in souls, spirits or demons, you did not study anything at all. as i said, they do exist, ive heard stories from my mother, and from my friends, why would they lie to me? (and no, they were not stoned in any way) ive met a new friend 2 months ago, ive seen him before at school, but he was also blind, and ignorant to jesus. i could not believe what i saw 2 months ago, he was having a break sitting on a bench reading the BIBLE! (he even had the same bible as me, a special bible for teenagers) so i went to him, and started talking to him, he was so different from how he was before. he told me he repent himself because of a video of a preacher on youtube, he began watching illuminati videos and ended up watching a preacher. i'm so happy for him. i don't know what else to tell, but i'm going now ;) see you soon.

I have been expanding my mind, meditating, thinking, reading books and just being here on earth I have understood many things regarding this topic and other things.

If I wanted to read fiction, I'd read the bible.

Shows your ignorance Sn00zz.

I'm not ignorant towards facts. I am though, ignorant, against some fantasy stories that people claim to be the absolute truth and aren't supported by any real evidence or facts.

The disciples were real people, Jesus was a real person, Pontius Pilate was real and sentenced crucifixions. Whether Jesus had the mythical power that's written in the scriptures is what's debated.

Yeah, I haven't really said anything about the existence of those people, I know they existed.

You said they were fantasy stories? The people existed, you can't prove that they didn't happen as much as they can prove they did. If anything there's more evidence they did the evidence that these people exist and it's known that Pontius Pilate sentenced crucifixions and did so with Jesus.

Yes, the people might have existed, but were they some magical wizards? Of course not.

And ofcourse there isn't any real evidence or counter evidence about their deeds, since God decided to do it in a secluded place in the world with minimal technological advancements. If this happened ''then'' developed China, the message would've spread much faster.

But God decided to go against all sense and send his son to Jerusalem.

You're an idiot. Not because you disagree with me but because everything you said was just plain ignorance.

I HATE THIS SUBJECT IT FUCKS WITH MY BRAIN.

Have you ever thought, what if nothing ever existed no life, no universe, nothing.
