How to avoid getting DDOS'd and people discovering your ip?

Featured Replies

G'day everyone.

Recently ive had some of my friends saying they have been ddosd while steaking.

no it is not just server lag.

Any tips on how to avoid this? cos it would suck to be staking a large amount of cash then get ddos'd.

Get a proxy of sorts and change IP

They can't get your IP from runescape, so it would have to be from something else (eg: Skype)

Even if someone starts to DDoS you, you can use programs to monitor the IP's/Packets going in and out of your computer. ANd when you get DDoSed you can just block the IP the packets are coming from. Or run a VPN but you can still get DDoSed on a VPN. I suggest using a firewall program because the windows firewall isn't the best.

Skype - Options/Advanced/Connection

Set proxy to Socks5, find a stable proxy from hidemyass proxy/port list and enter it in the relevant boxes.

Eg: Proxy: 123.456.78.91 Port: 80

Save the settings, restart skype and you'll be one step closer to stopping kids resolve your IP as skype will be running through that proxy.

In my opinion running skype through a proxy is a step up from just using a crappy free VPN which most people use.

Note: also set skype to only accept connections from contacts.

Use a VPN to stay protected from DDoS attacks.

Use Wireshark to monitor your network and see who's attacking you.

Either report it to the vpn provider so they can mitigate it or take it into your own hands.
