Does anyone know how to setup a linux vps server, my friend bought a vps server but they say they are only providing the server so no help. i can connect with putty but he wants a graphical interface (connect with vnc viewer) and bot on it.

If it's running ubuntu type in, "sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop".

I got nothing good to say about VPS , they bann u instantly when u use them in RS etc.

I suggest Centos 5 for the OS if your gonna use linux, that's what I always used. And send me a PM and I can help you out if you still need help. Use to run a VPS company. Doesn't make sense on why they don't have it setup to automatically install the OS..

Tell your friend to request that they install Gnome and VNC or else he's going to cancel/reverse his payment. They'll probably do it. In the future, tell your friend to contact the company before he purchases anything.
