Since you're using a Mac, are you downloading the software specifically released by Apple developers?

Downloading windows Java / JDK won't help.

No, your computer is fine! :P

I'm just letting you know that the Windows version of Java that you downloaded isn't compatible with your mac.

Feel free to read up on http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java_mac.xml and http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/webnotes/install/mac/mac-jdk.html for some information on how to install Mac-compatible JDK and Java. ^_^
