February 13, 201411 yr Well, i'm wanting to upgrade my ram but i've been looking and to get 2x4gb just is too expensive to spend on my computer, would it be alright if i put a 4gb in and a 2gb in? Would this still work?

February 13, 201411 yr Yea just get the 8GB, 6GB works but it's something you're going to upgrade soon again anyway. If you're gonna do something do it right

Would this still work? Yes any combination of ram will work, as long as the ram is the same, mixing different brands and ram types will cause issues but just double check the ram you have and order accordingly. February 14, 201411 yr No, you don't want to use a combination of RAM cards because it's not going to fully function / there could be potential issues with only 1 stick working while the other one doesn't. Chances are, you probably don't have a great motherboard anyway, so that would be completely pointless.
February 14, 201411 yr 2 x 4 works best, 1x 4 and 1x 2 works also but I don't think its worth saving maybe 10$ on that. If you don't have enough now just buy 1x 4 gb stick now and then stick in another one later.
February 15, 201411 yr it would work fine, it wont hurt anything just 8 would be better, and don't get anything over 1600mhz, it's overkill..
February 20, 201411 yr As long as they are the same spec wise they should work. However you shouldn't be mix and matching brands. Be aware if they have different speeds, like if you had a 1600 mHz with an 1866 mHz that would not work.
