February 10, 201411 yr Dear OSBot community, as i am preparing my new dekstop build to swap with my notebook i would like to know YOUR opinion on what you think is the best GPU to build in. This will be my rig: CPU: i7 2600k @ 4.6GHZ RAM: 16GB corsair vengeance 1600mhz MOBO: Asus sabertooth Z77 PSU: XFX PRO850W CORE EDITION Now the current graphic cards i already have are 2 overclocked HD5770's in Crossfire. they work perfectly fine for already 5 years but with the newly released games i found out it doesnt wanna fight for its place in my desktop anymore. Now i am wondering what GPU To take. i want to switch back to a single card so no SLI/Crossfire anymore. My personal thought would be the XFX R9 290, Not the X version because if i overclock the regular one my results are the same exept for the steam processors. maybe a nvidia card is better? Lemme know ! Please do not reply with cards like Titan or Ares as i simply dont have the money for them. Share your thoughts! ~Dennis
February 10, 201411 yr 4 way sli gtx 780 ti, or wait until the 790s come out and go 4 way sli on those, full loop custom water cooling setup of course.. You MIGHT be able to run 1 bot? might only get like 10-20 fps tho :\ Edit: you might need that new 1500 watt power suply from corsair, and i would suggest going with a i7 4930k 64 gb of corsair dominator platinum memory clocked at like 2800 mhz? and an asus maximus vi extreme would probabley help abit hope this helps, should be around the same price as your current budget Edited February 10, 201411 yr by Kate Upton
February 10, 201411 yr Why are you going to spend so much on that card when you get the same power with the gtx 770. its like 300 bucks o_o Even if there was more power in the 290 what would u need it for? 770 would run pretty much every game extreme with 60 fps
February 10, 201411 yr Author @Wowzoor, you got me there.. i dont really know mainly because the 290 got double the bandwith then the 770 and is still, faster. I'd also like to be prepared for the future lol

February 10, 201411 yr Author wont be outdated that quickly with a watercooled , overclocked r9 290 im sure of that :p
February 10, 201411 yr Honestly, get this.. r9 290's and 290x's are going for premium skyrocket prices at the moment... If in the future you need more, just throw another one in your system, will still come out cheaper, and give you all the performance you need.. http://http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121837&clickid=V3hwZ-TzUzkn0WhzRaxNw1RMUkTy9CVahR1Qy80&iradid=97618&ircid=2106&irpid=79301&nm_mc=AFC-IR&cm_mmc=AFC-IR-_-na-_-na-_-na
February 11, 201411 yr I think a r9 280 or r9 290 would be great for gaming if you need more power in the future you can just get another card.
February 11, 201411 yr The r9 290 has plenty of power, just dont go for the 290x, its not worth the difference. Either that or go for the green team, like the 780 or the 780ti
