Root and install CyanogenMod Rom to get the latest updates. Anyways, iPhones aren't guaranteed infinite updates too. My old iPhone didn't get the iOS 6 update.

Even the iPhone 3s get iOS 6.. your phone would literally have to be 5 years old (maybe even more) to not get iOS updates, which, by then, you should've upgraded your phone anyway.
