can they even ban an account that hasn’t been botted on just because your alt is a botted account?

Of course they can...

Any IP Associated to a botted account can, and I mean technically they can ban you for any reason, they don't need a reason, It's a privately owned company, if they don't like how you smell they can ban you.

if you were passing money to and from the botted account that can get you banned on accounts you didnt bot on, not had it happen to me but it does happen. i remember watching a video were a account was found botting and the person was passing all the cash to his main they banned both as they were connected.

Mule account, You have one semi leveled semi quested account that doesnt bot or do anything for the sole purpose of trading your gold off your bots. Bot -> Mule ->Main and you should be alright id imagine
