Why is my internet doing this? Could it be my modem/router?

Featured Replies

So like every 3 - 7 minutes my internet cuts out (this happens for like two days in a row, about twice a week,) and when i troubleshoot it tell me to turn off my modem for 10 seconds then turn it back on. I do that then my internet will slow down, then cutout like 10 mins later

I talked to my provider and they just say "There's congestion in your area and were working on fixing it" yet they've said that for the past 7 months...

Could my modem or router have any effect on my connection?

Do you think buying a new modem and router would make my connection not cut out as much

Or do you think its strictly my isp?

Extra: I've had this router and modem for like 6 years

I was just going to buy one anyway :p

What should I get.. A new router or modem ?

Or both, if it's inexpensive
