Can't get the client to work

I download the client, from the official website, and open the jar file and this shows up.

I extract to a different folder and try a good few things which could launch the client but none work. All flash a black rectangle (similar the cmd prompt) with no text.

 

My Java is fully updated so I doubt that's the issue.

This is not how you use Java. This is not a client bug, moving this to General Help so someone can show you how to use Java.
