this might sound petty but it seriously bugs me that when you get a message it also shows up as a notification when they are both next to each other, is there a way that it is possible to get rid of the message 'notification' and just have it flagged as a message. Or do i have to be lured into the false security that i am more popular than i think i am when i have like 3 notifications left over from messages and get excited that i have had a comment back or a mention.

You can change it by going into your account settings > notification settings and disable notification upon receiving a message.
