It's a combination of luck, account age and stats, and what you're botting. If your botting something that profits money such as cannonballs, your account less than a year old and your highest stat is smithing at lv55 then chances are you're going to be permed the first hit.

How do you know that he's not back?
I'm secretly a jmod. No not really, but I've been suicide botting an account and has yet to be banned. (Bot started during christmas)

You guys (gold farmers) should totally suicide bot red chins until they go down to 600-700gp. I want to get 99 range fast but these prices are breaking my balls.

Train your accounts by hand until possibly lv 20-30. Don't bot in popular areas, babysit your bot, DON'T USE FREE SCRIPTS UNLESS YOU'RE OKAY WITH IT GETTING BANNED, don't use very popular premium scripts unless they allow customizations such as allowing you to set your own banking path. It's obvious stuff really.

Nah babysitting will lower the risk. But I've babysat my bot and still ended up with a ban.

Botted my main because I wanted 99 str before c wars. Ended up getting 2 days bot busting moderate. I got a little greedy and botted 16 hours a day as a week ago I was actually around 85 str(now 98 str). Anywho I got lucky and I'm folding out now. Nice knowing you lads, not botting anymore
.EDIT: I botted yaks for 8 hours and alternated to stronghold spiders for 8 hours. Possibly the reason I wasn't banned the first day, eventually it might have caught it. Adding this in incase anyone wishes to know.

Unless he lives in russia, I doubt it mate. Feds are bringing up their A game with tracing, tor doesn't stop tracing now. Even that Snowden guy said it.

lol the feds man. Give the f***er 10 years behind bars. Just don't tell him that so he doesn't go changing ips, nowadays the feds can find your location even if you're using tor. (Which worries me now)

1) Use breaks.
2) Bot in cold spots. Avoid hot spots like Rock crabs, yaks, woodcutting yews/magics, ect.
3) Ever once in awhile do some of the work yourself. Try talking ingame when something fails i.e. if constantly getting hit during combat try saying "omfg"
4) If you're going to bot overnight, minimize activity during the day. It'll give jagex the sense of you're sleeping at that time instead.
5) After about a long 7-8 days of botting, stay offline for a day or two. Mimicking a player giving the game a break because he's bored of it.
6) After a long time training a certain skill, do another skill or go do minigames/pk/ect for 10-20 mins.
7) Anti-bans such as moving the camera every once in awhile and looking at current xp ARE A JOKE. The only real good anti-ban is looking like a legitimate player, i.e. Every click having a different interval time, sometimes mis-clicking (slightly more mis-clicking after a long game session as a way to show a player is tired), ect.
8) DO NOT turn very defensive if someone calls you a bot. Make them feel stupid instead. i.e.:Good:
Snitch: Player1 is a bot
Player1: huh? no?Snitch: Yes you are, you're just babysitting
Player1: alright dude, whatever you say.
Bad:
Snitch: Player1 is a bot.
Player1: STFU, I'm not a bot. f**git.
Snitch: You're awfully defensive about it, babysitter.

Yeah they’re doing heavy watches lately. They’re trying to rack up players from the steam release and don’t want the new players seeing all the bots. Probably a good idea to be flipping botables right now since supply is going to drop.
