I have lots of experience with Obby Maulers, long before 07scape came out. It was and is still my favorite build, I just no longer pk. This is the rule I've stuck to with each obby mauler I've made. It should always be strength based, once it isn't , it's useless. imo. There are all different kinds of mauler's and play styles, to say one is wrong or my opinion makes me inexperienced is just ignorant.

An 'Obby Maul Pure' should be strength based, not ranged based. 70 range/99 strength is end game for an Obby. Once you pk your range above that you may as well turn it into something else.
