I think racism is still around because of the attention it gets from individuals and the media. The presence of anti-racism programs, like affirmative action and equal opportunity employment, perpetuates racism. I personally know many people who don't need that type of governmental support, but it doesn't make sense to turn it down either. As long as our leaders view minorities as groups that can be bought over with the "gift" of more support, there will be racism. Trying to fight racism doesn't remove racism but instead defines it. The last thing I want to say is that casual racism justifies racism elsewhere in society.
