Service Status Checker

Featured Replies

Hey Guys, this script is something that I originally created for my services but I've decided to release it to the community.

What is it?

The script is a utility that the customers of your service can use to get a real time status update of how their order is going.

Requirements?

The only requirements to use this script is to create an account on Paste bin

How it works

To setup this is very simple.

Step 1. Login to your pastebin account and create a new paste bin

Step 2. Create a new paste bin using the following layout

status, Message goes here

Step 3. Copy the id of your paste bin e.g : FT9VCDtw

Step 4. Have your customer enter this ID into their script

To update the message simply edit the content of the paste bin and then it will be automatically updated for your user.

I gotta be honest, this is pretty sick.

Thanks man, i'll upload the source code when I get home; that way people can customize any way that they see fit.

Okay, Now does the customer have to have the script or just me? :\

You don't need the script the customer does

If you're going to have to talk to the customer to give them the pastebin link, surely you just as well tell them 'In progress' or 'Haven't started'

Maybe so, however if you have alot of customers at the same time then you can just give them the pastebin link and they can see for them selves when the order is done ect.

It would be better if this is all done through a website... But nice job. ;)

Good job smile.png

Thank you

Would be nice if they had a code they just entered once and we type in a small chat box or something and it updates automatically

The way this is currently setup; I'm not sure if it is possible.

However if you instead had the code read from a website hosted on a server that you owned it would be much easier to do.

Edit: This maybe possible; researching it.

Edit 2: The pastebin API doesn't currently support editing existing Pastes... if anyone knows a similar website with an API that allows this please let me know.

if anyone knows a similar website with an API that allows me to edit remotely please let me know

Seems stupid. Having to run a script to check when your account is done or what condition it is in.

Thanks for the feedback; however I like the idea and it could help take the load off of service owners.

They'd no longer need to constantly message clients to update them on their order.

But if the client only had 1 account, that was being worked upon, he wouldn't be able to check. This would be a better idea as a standalone program, rather than a script.
