Plugged in not charging?

Can i still run my laptop at night closed when it says not charging but plugged in? I would think yes. but wondering

Yes.

I like closed it for like 5 minutes and it shut off on me.. I have it so it doesnt sleep when lid is closed too.. WTF :(((

Are you sure you have settings like this?

Make sure it doesn't go to sleep after a certain amount of time either.

For my computer when it says "plugged in, but not charging" it means, it's not charging and will die out when the battery runs out. This is because the battery is too hot, usually depends on the surface that you lay it on (I'm using a macbook, so the fan on the back usually needs some space to air out the hot air).
