mazza100
Just thought of an idea. I work for a telecommunications company and am able to use unlimited cellular data. If I connect via WIFI throught a phone hotspot would it mask my IP well enough to bot farm?
The Hero of Time
mask your ip? isn't it like impossible to hide your ip?
Volta
No? There will just be multiple connections (of all devices tethered to your phone) to jagex' servers but coming from a single IP (of your phone's connection).
killersloth
Android I assume? If you root your device, which is reasonably simple with a bit of reading, there is this. https://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/ This application requires a "rooted"-device and(probably) a custom-kernel which supports netfilter (iptables) If you must also use a custom kernel, again a bit of reading will help with that. mazza100
That seems extremely clever! It is android and ill have no problem rooting it. So would the IP still be different even though im hotspoting my own normal wifi mask your ip? isn't it like impossible to hide your ip? No sorry i just ment the ip wouldnt be the same as my home wifi
xikenyonix
I've always used tethering, It's my only option where i live. I have had maybe 2 or 3 accounts banned, even while using this, I can also state that YOUR IP CHANGES DAILY when using tethering, I've monitored this myself and saw the results. Even so, It has had no effect on detectability. As of writing this, I just lost a main account (shouldn't have botted on it really, but meh) I was using a very poor script so i guess it's my own fault All good, will be back in 6 months to try again. casual
All good, will be back in 6 months to try again. Do the bans expire in a half year? I didn't know that. Or?
