Not sure if this is in the wrong section or not. Anyway, so i just restarted my modem to utilize the dynamic IP. However the first 6 digits remain the same, is this because it doesn't change your submask gateway or whatever it's called? Or do all users of the internet provider share the first 6 digits? Just wanted to clear this up

I believe it's because when you reset it's still within the same subnetwork, so you get a new IP within the same range.

Does the IP adress begin with 192.168.x.x?

If so, it doesn't work, as your dynamic IP adress will be changed everytime you connect/reconnect to your modem.

You have to contact your service provider to change the real IP adress of your router.

192.168.x.x is your local IP ( the ip your device gets assigned by your router/modem) not your global IP.
