I am suggesting some sort of shoutbox or Java Web Chat Relay application to further the communication between the community and staff alone. 

I personally don't think we need a shoutbox. But if enough people suggest one then we should do what the majority wants to do.

I mean of course have rules that apply to it, and shoutbox overseer or something.

Yes, of course there should be rules to it if they add the shoutbox, but I am saying that there is almost no need for one at this point in time. It's just my opinion.

The best thing about a shoutbox that I've seen thus far is if/when the bot goes down, it makes it easier on some to just ask whether it is up or down. It also is a good way to get the community to bond together, whether they're talking shit to each other just for shits and giggles, or looking for someone to pk with/quest/skill, its just a fun little tool. 

 

But defiantly, there needs to be a moderator of some sort watching it, to prevent and fishy activities and to help regulate what is said.

I do agree that maybe the bot could use some sort of announcement system. Maybe add a hook at the top of the page that will allow people to see/redirect to a certain post on the forums that will update everyone on the status of the bot

I do believe one should be added; although, it should be implemented later on in the community when we have more active members. The chat box would make the  forum's activity decline quite a bit as far as posts.
