There is no such thing as a quad core dominating an 8 core. You have 8 cores at the same or faster ghz it's obviously faster and can handle more things on it. I would get an 8 core for sure.

This one clearly shows an i7 6-core being much faster than the AMD 8-core. And a intel i7 4-core being faster than an AMD 6-core. This doesn't even include the i7 4-cores that are faster than the AMD 8-cores.
