Power Assertion

Featured Replies

I'm having some trouble with the power assertion of the client. Any OS X after Mountain Lion has had a power management tool update that decides whether the system goes to sleep or not. It no longer looks at disk activity, instead it responds to an app's need for energy (power assertion). Basically, after a delay of not using my laptop, while the bot is running, the system would go to sleep because the power assertion of the client is just not there.

I don't know if it's a specific problem with my client settings or if its everyone. I could easily ask my laptop to never go to sleep, and that would be the end of it. This issue should be fixed, because with Maverick, background apps/browsers/files go to sleep if they do not display power assertion. So even if I'm on my laptop studying, but forget about the client for a few hours, it'll be put to sleep anyway.

I hope the post makes sense.

Thanks

I have Maverick.

I'm fairly certain that power assertions require using a JNI wrapper for Objective C code. There are workarounds (such as using pmset) to provide a similar effect, but I don't see it as an elegant solution.
