The Shining

Featured Replies

Hello all,

In honor of Halloween last week, I went down to my local bookstore and picked up a copy of Stephen King's horror masterpiece "The Shining." I just finished it today, and I must say that I was thorougly scared while reading. I ask myself over and over, "How can a book be so scary? Its just words on a page." I am not a big fan of horror movies, but I am looking into watching the movie with a couple of friends. I am wondering if any of you have seen it or have any insights or points. Also, feel free to post your comments about the book/movie below. I'd like to see what other people think about it.

Personally, I definitely enjoyed reading the book, and I am going to begin reading another novel by him called "Misery" in a bit. Hopefully I can bring myself to watch that movie also. I am going to edit this post after I see the movie so that maybe it can spur some more discussion.

Feel free to post your thoughts below.

Cheers,

~~TF~~

Yes I have seen the movie it has a very nice story line to it although the scare factor is almost non exisistent in the movie like most of stephen king's works the books are always better

I very much enjoyed the book. I am looking forward to watching the movie this weekend. Hopefully I wont be too scared. All the reviews rave about how scary it is though, but hey, we'll see I guess
