Hey need some help with my current computer

Featured Replies

I have an alienware m14x and i'm having some issues with it. It can't run games without choppy gameplay and lag, and it over heats after 20 minutes of playing and turns off. Is there anyway i can fix my computer to where it does not over heat and fix the gameplay?

was planning on buying an alienware computer, i thought they were like the best for gaming..

Sorry this won't help but damn :/

Alienware's M##X series are well known for having critical flaws. The M11X had a hinge on the screen that would consistently break, the M14X is known to overheat. From the limited explanation you've provided, your system is running too hard and can't cool itself. Typical Alienware; people need to understand that Alienware is not the best, they typically overclock their systems to absurd degrees and pump all of their systems full of ridiculous amounts of LEDs that ultimately cause overheating. Getting back on point, give your fans a look. Another potential issue may be that the connections inside of the laptop itself are loose. If all else fails, you can always send it back in under warranty for replacement and then get another one that has a similar issue.

Ignorance spreads in a manner like this;

One person tells three people that something is excellent. Those three people tell another three people, and in turn those three tell another three. The numbers get big really fast, that small chain leads up to 27 people with the wrong idea.

EDIT: Fun fact, Alienware is a subset of Dell. That should explain everything.

well my suggestion would be to get your money back :s but other then that for the overheating make sure it is not to close to whatever you have it sitting on like make sure it is suspended a little because a lot of laptops have vents on the bottom and when to close the the resting place it may overheat other suggestions about it is find the vents and make sure they are not covered or blocked by anything. clean the vents form any dust, and maybe open it up and take a look at the other accessories down in there and make sure there is no dust. also for the choppy game-play i would look to see if it has upgradable or (expansion) slots for more hard drive storage, and also for the graphics cards and if it has no more expansion slots i would once again return it for your money back lol not worth it. anyway hope this helps :)

Lol you guys....

Most of that advice was useless. With regards, definitely check all the vents, blow them out with a dust cleaner when the computer is powered off. Invest in a chill pad- they are worth it. Make sure your graphics and motherboard drivers are correct. That can cause choppy gameplay. It could also be your power settings. What power mode do you play on? There is a very slight possibility that it is a loose wire, but I highly doubt it. You could also downclock the cpu a little if necessary.
