I know about the API, and I have been looking through it. 

Let's say I want to check whether my character is animating... I'm looking at the API, and I am looking through the subheadings "Player" and "Players," but there's nothing there relevant. 

Are there any more in depth guides than the one posted?

if u look at the Player class in the javadocs, you will see that Player extends Character

and if u scroll down

u will see this
