I think it's not even close to having the same issue. He knew it was gonna cost money - How can you expect to hire a service of someone when you are not even gonna pay? That is blatant fraud in my opinion.

Agreed. It's completely ridiculous and stupid.

They can't send debt collectors to any country they want.

You're right, but international debt collectors can reach a whole lot of countries. Just looking up a few they can easily do 130-140+. Chances are they live in one of the countries that they be sent to

to be fair though my account had accumulate to like $200-$300 debt when it got suspended. but the account continued to accumulate debt everyday as if the VPS's were still active even though after contacting the support telling them to close everything down

Yes, that's because you have signed a contract which those things are addressed in. Normally when you pay a bill to late, they will make you pay even more. But you said accumulate to like 200-300, which means you knew the bill was getting higher?

oh rip, I guess I'm screwed then. gonna have to hide my kids and wife. if they take legal action, is there gonna be police and lawyers knocking on my door, or how does this work?

lol. If police come to your house and say you're under arrest for not paying Digital Ocean, just laugh and close the door in their face.

On another note, if they have your real info, you need to pay or it can go on your credit report and/or you will get a summons to court for a pending lawsuit, in which case you'll more than likely be required to either higher an attorney or risk fighting it yourself. Should you lose, you may also be required to pay for Digital Ocean's attorney fees as well.

If you're under 18, they can't really do much, legally. If you're over 18, well...You're probably better off paying.

best thing you can do from my experience, instead of having debt collectors etc giving you calls every 10 minutes non stop every day or letters in the mail, you're better off working out a payment plan, i had a debt of $303.20 and they were willing to let me pay it off in monthly increments of about $27

Don't ever pay any sort of debt collector for any reason. No matter what.

If you chargeback jagex after buying bonds with cvash they just ban your account like many other companys do.

So Its not that unlikely to think that they will just ban you from using their service cosndiering the message he gets just says that he will be suspended

Depends on the amount. Lawyers cost money and sometimes it's not worth paying lawyers to chase after some kid who stole his mother's credit card and chargeback a $6 item in an online game halfway across the world.

I should've been wise and not have even made this comment, it's pointless to argue and nothing will be solved. Again. There's millions of accounts and unlimited membership. DigitalOcean has a limited number of servers and has a cap on their profit, yes they can expand, but that costs more money to do so. They also can only fit so many servers in that area. They obviously have to pay for internet, the cost of the server, electricity and staff. These are way different. An apartment complex has 10 units....if one of them doesn't pay...then they have nine units profit. Who had to pay the taxes, electricity, cable, water, sewer and trash? They did. They're losing money. Jagex is selling something that's virtual and there's no cap. DigitalOcean relies on renting most of their 100 servers a month(way more than that). If jagex had a max amount of members, I'd agree with you. These are two completely different scenarios. Jagex loses profit(since it's a virtual good it costs them nothing), whereas this company had to pay the internet company for that vps, the electricity for leaving that server on and everything else. They had to SPEND money to upkeep that VPS. Jagex didn't have to spend upkeep on a bond. COMPLETELY different.

Any company can go after you for loss of money under certain circumstances. In almost every case, the user checks a box agreeing to the Terms of Service and therefore can be legally responsible for the money. It's all held equally the same in the court of law as fraud is fraud regardless of it being $1k or $1. It just depends on whether the company is going to spend time chasing after you for $1.

Yes, but I didn't become aware of the growing debt until after I noticed that I no longer could connect to my VPS's via VNC. I logged onto my digital ocean account to see what was up and noticed the whopping debt of $200-$300. at this point the account was on hold/suspended and thus not allowing me to destroy the servers nor did it allow me to close down the account. In this situation I thought the debt wouldn't grow any more because I assumed digital ocean had shut my stuff down. like about a week later, for some reason I log back in to the account and see the debt had grown to like ~$400, and this is when I contacted support, they still haven't gotten back to me about this and the debt grows everyday and is now over $500.

I just hope the support gets back to me so we can sort something out

I understand, but didnt you think at a certain point that the service you are using will cost money? Surely it was stated when you registrered the account and- or purchased the VPS?

yeah I fucked up. I was under the impression that with the initial deposit that I made I was allowed to run the amount of VPS's I ran, and when my balance was up, I thought the servers would simply power off automatically. It did not even occur to me that I could accumulate a debt lol. my bad for not paying enough attention :feels:

Digital Ocean tried to pull the same thing on me. All I did was kindly email them stating what happened, showed I canceled my agreement on PAYPAL, and that I no longer have been using their service. They tried getting $100 out of me. That’s why I stopped using them, and will never use them again.

If you looking for an alternative, take a look at Vultr. It basically offers the same service as DigitalOcean, but cheaper.

Lol you good buddy. This is a typical "jig" alot of people use to avoid paying.

There is no evidence you made that transaction. Not even your IP. And it says clearly what will happen if you dont pay, you will get suspended. What a shame.

what jig are you talking about?

no evidence of what transaction?
